About YouTube Music
YouTube Music is Google's music streaming service. Its app listing describes official tracks alongside live performances, covers and remixes from YouTube, curated and personalised playlists and mixes, activity and mood mixes, global charts, lyrics, collaborative playlists and the ability to upload your own songs to your library. It works on phones, desktop, smart speakers, TVs, cars and watches, and integrates with Google Maps, Waze and Google Assistant. Music Premium (in select countries) adds ad-free listening, background play and switching between song audio and music videos.

People who want official songs plus YouTube-only live versions and covers in one place, and who already use Google services.
Watch out for
Background play and ad-free listening need Music Premium, which is only available in select countries. Premium members may still hear branding or promotions embedded by creators.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the US App Store listing shows in-app purchases including YouTube Music $15.99, YouTube Music Family $24.99, YouTube Premium $20.99 and YouTube Premium Family $34.99. These are App Store prices; Google's own pricing page did not render, so direct prices were not confirmed.
