What do you want to get done today?
Pick a task, drop in your file, done. Shrink a photo so it actually sends, merge two PDFs into one, pull a song out of a video, or work out a percentage — around 120 everyday tools, free, no sign-up, and most of them run right inside your browser.
Start with what you want to do
No menus to learn. Tell us the task in plain words and we'll open the right tool.
Most tool sites make you already know the name of the thing you need. This one doesn't. You almost never wake up wanting to "transcode" or "batch process" anything — you want the photo small enough to email, the two PDFs joined up, the song saved off a video your nephew sent. So that's how the tasks below are written: the way you'd say them out loud. Pick the line that sounds like your afternoon and the matching tool opens with the boxes already where you'd expect them. Each one does a single job and tells you, in everyday language, what to drop in and what you'll get back — no glossary, no guessing which of nine buttons is the right one.
I want to shrink a photo so it'll send
That holiday snap straight off your phone is often too big for an email or an upload box. Drop it in, pick a smaller size, and download a lighter copy in seconds. The picture still looks fine — it just stops bouncing back as 'attachment too large'.
I want to combine a few PDFs into one
Drag in two or more PDFs, put them in the order you want, and download a single tidy file. It's the easy way to staple a receipt to a form, or join scanned pages back into one document before you send it on.
I want the song or sound from a video
Got an MP4 and you only need the audio — a lecture, a track, a voice clip someone messaged you? Pull out a clean MP3 in a few seconds and keep just the part you wanted. No video editor to install and nothing to figure out.
I want to turn my notes into a proper PDF
Paste or upload plain Markdown notes and get back a neat PDF with real headings, lists and spacing — the kind of thing you can hand in or attach to an email without it looking like a text file. One click, no word processor required.
I want to work out a percentage
Tips, a sale discount, the tax on a price, 'what percent of', a percentage change — the everyday sums you'd usually reach for your phone calculator and a bit of squinting for. Type the numbers into one box and read the answer straight off.
I want to know my monthly loan payment
Before you sign anything, see what it actually costs. Enter the amount, the interest rate and the term, and get the monthly payment, the total interest over the whole loan, and a month-by-month breakdown of where your money goes.
How it works — three steps, no account
The same simple rhythm for every tool on the site.
There's nothing to set up and nothing to learn before you start. Every tool here follows the same three beats, whether you're shrinking a picture, joining PDFs or splitting a dinner bill: say what you want, hand over the file or the numbers, and take the result. You won't be asked to make an account, confirm an email, or 'start your free trial' partway through — the thing you came to do is the thing you can actually finish. If a tool needs anything from you, it asks in plain words on the page, before you commit, not in a pop-up afterwards. Most of the work happens right on your own computer, so it's quick and there's nothing left behind once you close the tab.
- 1
1. Pick your task
Choose a task card or browse a category. Each tool does one job and says plainly, in everyday words, what it needs from you and what you'll get back — no jargon to decode first.
- 2
2. Add your file or numbers
Drop a file in, paste some text, or type a few values. For anything that changes a file, you'll usually see a preview so you can check it looks right before you go ahead.
- 3
3. Download the result
Press go and grab your finished file or answer. No watermark, no email gate, no 'upgrade to download' wall blocking the last step. Take what you came for and close the tab.
Five everyday corners of the toolbox
Around 120 tools, grouped the way you'd actually think about them.
You don't need all 120 tools — you need the handful that match whatever's in front of you this week. So instead of one endless A-to-Z list, everything is sorted into five plain-language corners you can scan in a second: the paperwork pile, the audio jobs, the video jobs, the quick sums, and the colour bits. Each corner gathers the tools you'd naturally expect to find together, named for what they do rather than how they work under the hood. Wander into the one that fits your task and you'll find a small, sensible set of options instead of a wall of icons. It's the difference between a tidy drawer and a junk drawer — same contents, far less rummaging.

In focus: getting a PDF small enough to email
The single most common PDF headache — 'attachment too large' — and the two-tool fix that clears it.
By far the most common reason people reach for a PDF tool isn't anything fancy — it's the email that won't send. You scan a few pages, or join a couple of documents, and suddenly the file is too big for your mail to accept and it bounces straight back. So this is the one PDF job worth walking through end to end, because it's the one almost everyone hits.
The fix is two small tools used back to back. First, Merge PDF puts everything into a single, ordered file — handy when a form, a cover note and a scanned receipt all need to go in one go instead of three separate attachments. Then Compress PDF squeezes that file down, mostly by tidying up the heavy scanned images inside it, until it slips comfortably under the size limit your email is complaining about. The words stay sharp; it's the bulky picture data that gets trimmed. Most people go from 'too large to send' to 'sent' in under a minute, without printing, re-scanning or signing up for anything.
Because these page-level steps run right inside your browser, the document you're sending — a contract, a payslip, a medical form — never gets uploaded anywhere on the way. You merge, you compress, you attach, and the only copy that travels is the one you deliberately email.
Step 1 — Merge PDF
Combine the pages or separate documents you need to send into one ordered file, so it goes as a single clean attachment instead of three. Drag the parts into the right order before you export.
Open tool →Step 2 — Compress PDF
Shrink that merged file until it fits under your email's attachment limit. It trims the heavy scanned-image data inside while keeping the text readable, so a bouncing email finally sends.
Open tool →If you'd rather split first
Only some of the pages need to go? Use Split PDF to pull out just the section you want, then send that smaller slice on its own — no need to attach the whole document.
Open tool →Which file format for what I'm doing?
A plain-English cheat sheet so you can pick without second-guessing.
The hardest part of most everyday file jobs isn't the converting — it's knowing which format to convert to in the first place. The names all look interchangeable until you pick the wrong one and the file won't open, or comes out enormous, or loses something on the way. This little cheat sheet skips the technical detail and just matches a real situation — emailing a song, sending a form, posting a photo — to the format that quietly works, and the tool that gets you there.
| What you're trying to do | Pick this format | Because | Tool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Send a form or report that must look the same for everyone | It locks the layout and fonts so nothing shifts on the other person's screen, and it opens on any device without Word | docx-to-pdf | |
| Email or save a song from a video, kept small | MP3 | Plays on every phone, laptop and speaker, and the file stays tiny enough to attach or store easily | mp4-to-mp3 |
| Keep a recording at full quality to edit later | WAV or FLAC | Nothing is thrown away, so the audio stays crisp for editing — WAV is plain, FLAC is the same quality but smaller | mp3-to-wav |
| Put a photo online or attach it without it bouncing | JPG | The everyday photo format — small file, looks great for snapshots, and accepted by basically every website and email | image-compress |
| Open a spreadsheet export in any program | CSV | Plain rows and columns that any spreadsheet opens instantly, with no special software needed | csv-to-json |
| Hand a colour to a website or design tool | HEX | It's the code web pages and most design apps expect, so the shade you picked shows up exactly right | color-converter |
Popular this week
The tools people open most, ready to launch.
These are the tools getting opened the most right now — a decent snapshot of the small, recurring jobs that send people looking in the first place. None of them needs a manual: each does one thing, says what it wants on the page, and hands back a result you can use straight away. If you're not sure where to start, this is a fair shortlist of the everyday tasks most people turn up for, from saving audio and tidying spreadsheets to a quick bit of date maths.
MP3 to WAV
Turn a compressed MP3 into a full-quality WAV when you're about to edit it or burn it, and don't want the sound thinned out. Drop the file in and download the uncompressed version.
CSV to JSON
Take a plain spreadsheet export and reshape it into JSON, the format apps and websites usually ask for. Useful when something you're using says 'upload a JSON file' and all you have is a spreadsheet.
Age calculator
Work out an exact age — or any gap between two dates — in years, months and days. Good for forms that want it precisely, birthday countdowns, or settling how long ago something actually was.
Colour converter
Switch a colour between HEX, RGB and HSL and copy the exact value you need. Handy when a design tool gives you one format and the thing you're pasting into wants another.
Markdown to PDF
Turn plain Markdown notes into a clean, shareable PDF with proper headings and spacing, in one click. The quick way to make rough notes look like a finished handout.
Loan & mortgage calculator
See the monthly payment, the total interest over the life of the loan, and a full month-by-month schedule before you commit. Plug in different rates or terms to compare deals side by side.
Your files stay on your computer
Here's the plain version, with no technical talk: for most of the tools here, your file never gets sent anywhere. When you shrink a photo, split a PDF or convert an audio clip, the whole thing happens right there on your own computer, inside the page you've got open. It works on the office wifi, on hotel wifi, on a train with one bar of signal — and nothing is uploaded to us along the way. There's no copy of your payslip, your contract or your family photos sitting on someone else's server waiting to be forgotten about.
That's reassuring for the obvious reason — a private document stays private — but it's also just quicker. Because the file doesn't have to travel up to a server and back down again, the result usually pops out almost the moment you press go, instead of sitting on a 'please wait, uploading…' bar.
A few of the heaviest jobs — some large video conversions, for instance — are the exception and do need a bit of outside help. Where that's true, the tool says so plainly on the page before you start, so you're never surprised. The simple way to think about it: pictures, PDFs, calculators, colour and most audio all stay on your machine, and anything that doesn't will tell you first. Open the tab, do your one thing, close it — and the only copy of your file is the one you chose to keep.
Guides for the tasks people Google
Short, practical how-tos that go with the tools.
Often the tool is the easy bit and the real question is which option do I pick, and why won't this thing just send. These guides walk through the everyday tasks people actually search for — getting a file small enough to email, choosing between two formats, sorting out a percentage — written to be read in a couple of minutes, with the matching tool one click away at the end. No filler, no fifteen-minute scroll before the answer.

Do I need to create an account or sign in?
No. Every tool here works without an account, an email address or a sign-in. Pick a task, do it, and close the tab — there's nothing to register for and nothing to cancel later. You won't be asked to 'start a free trial' partway through, either.
Are my files uploaded somewhere?
For most tools, no. Shrinking a photo, PDF page jobs, calculators, colour tools and the bulk of audio conversions all happen right on your own computer, so the file never leaves your device — it works fine on the office wifi without anything being sent to us. A few heavier jobs (some large video conversions) are the exception, and those tools say so clearly before you start.
Is there a file size or page limit?
There's no artificial cap and no paywall hiding at the last step. Because the in-browser tools do the work on your own machine, the real limit is just your computer's memory — very large video files are the most likely to feel it, while photos, PDFs, audio and documents are usually no trouble at all.
Will my files come out with a watermark?
No. Nothing produced here is stamped with a watermark or a 'made with' tag. The only watermark you'll ever see is one you deliberately add yourself using the Add Watermark to PDF tool.
My PDF is too big to email — how do I fix that?
Use two tools back to back. If you're sending several documents, run Merge PDF first to join them into one file, then run Compress PDF to shrink it under your email's attachment limit. Compressing mostly trims the heavy scanned-image data, so the text stays readable. Most people go from 'attachment too large' to sent in under a minute.
Which audio format should I save — MP3, WAV or FLAC?
Use MP3 for everyday listening, sharing and saving a song off a video — it's tiny and plays everywhere. Use WAV when you need full, uncompressed audio to edit, and FLAC when you want that same quality in a smaller file. The MP3-to-WAV and related converters switch between them right in your browser.
What's the difference between CSV and JSON, and which do I need?
CSV is plain rows and columns that any spreadsheet opens instantly — best when a person or a spreadsheet is on the other end. JSON is the structured format apps and websites usually ask for — best when something says 'upload a JSON file'. The CSV to JSON tool converts between them so you can hand over whatever the next step expects.
Does the loan calculator show a full repayment breakdown?
Yes. Enter the loan amount, interest rate and term and the loan & mortgage calculator gives you the monthly payment, the total interest paid over the life of the loan, and a full month-by-month schedule showing how each payment splits between what you owe and the interest. Change the rate or term to compare options.
