About Mullvad VPN

Mullvad VPN is a VPN service run by Mullvad VPN AB in Gothenburg, Sweden. Accounts are created with a randomly generated account number and no email address, and payment can be made in cash, cryptocurrency, bank transfer, card, PayPal and several local methods. Mullvad says it keeps no activity logs, and it publishes its apps as open source. Apps are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and one account can be used on up to 5 devices. The company also makes Mullvad Browser, a free privacy browser developed with the Tor Project, and a browser extension.

Good for

Privacy-focused users who want an account without email, anonymous payment options and a simple flat price without long-term lock-in.

Watch out for

There is no free plan or discount for long terms, port forwarding is not supported, and one account covers up to 5 devices. The 14-day money-back guarantee does not apply to cash payments.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 Mullvad charges a flat €5 per month including VAT whether paid for one month or longer (shown as about $5.61). Cryptocurrency payments get a 10% discount. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee except for cash payments.
