About Strava
Strava records runs, rides, walks, hikes and other activities using a phone or most GPS devices, then shows a map and performance data such as pace, speed and distance, and compares efforts with past attempts. A social feed lets athletes follow each other, give kudos, join clubs and challenges. The free tier covers recording, the community and safety features. The subscription adds route recommendations, saving routes offline, drawing custom routes, segment leaderboards, advanced workout analysis, custom goals, Fitness Score and Beacon live location sharing with up to three contacts. A bundle with Runna adds custom running training plans and coaching. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web.
Good for
Runners and cyclists who want to record activities from almost any GPS device and share them with a community, with segments and routes for planning.
Watch out for
Segment leaderboards, route planning and saving routes offline require the subscription. Activities and maps are shared socially, so check privacy settings for home locations.
