About Zoho Writer

Zoho Writer is a word processor from Zoho that runs in the browser, with desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux that work offline, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. It supports multi-column layouts, section breaks, tables, charts and other layout tools, real-time co-editing, comments and change tracking, and a plagiarism checker. Zia, Zoho's AI writing assistant, helps generate, rewrite, proofread and analyse text using Zoho's own model or a user's OpenAI key. Document automation builds templates and fillable forms, merges data from business apps and collects e-signatures. It imports and exports DOCX, DOC, ODT, PDF, TXT and HTML.

Small businesses and teams that want a free collaborative word processor with mail merge, forms and e-signature workflows, especially those already using Zoho apps.

Watch out for

Automated document generation and e-signature collection consume automation credits beyond a monthly free allowance. Paid storage and business plans are sold through Zoho WorkDrive rather than Writer itself.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 the pricing page says Writer is free for individuals and organisations with all features; the Document Automation add-on gives 200 free credits/month per org on the free edition and 1,000 on paid editions, with tiered per-credit prices beyond that. Credit prices were not shown in the page text.
