About Adobe Premiere
Adobe Premiere, called Premiere Pro until Adobe renamed it to cover a desktop-and-mobile family of apps, is a timeline-based video editor sold through Creative Cloud. It offers three-point and text-based editing, AI-powered Media Intelligence search of footage, colour correction and grading with scopes and curves, audio tools including noise reduction, Enhance Speech and music auto-fitting, effects, transitions, templates and shape masks, and animated titles and captions with translation into 18 languages. Generative tools include Generative Extend, Object Mask and generating media on the timeline. A free Premiere mobile app for iPhone and Android lets projects started on a phone be finished on the desktop.
Good for
Editors working on YouTube, broadcast, corporate or film projects who need a mature timeline, round-tripping with After Effects and Photoshop, and wide industry familiarity.
Watch out for
Membership only, with no perpetual licence, per the product page. Adobe Stock and Firefly content may cost extra. The name changed from Premiere Pro to Premiere, so older tutorials use the old name.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the product page lists Premiere for individuals from US$22.99/month on an annual plan billed monthly (shown as a first-year price for new subscribers), Creative Cloud Pro at US$69.99/month (US$34.99 for the first 3 months), and teams US$37.99 per licence per month. 7-day free trial; the mobile app is free.
