About Runway

Runway is a browser-based creative platform from Runway AI for generating video from text or images, editing footage with AI, and producing images, music, voice and sound effects in one workspace. Paid plans give access to Runway's Gen-4.5 and Aleph video models alongside third-party models such as Kling, Seedance and Nano Banana, plus an agent-style creative assistant, 4K upscaling and custom voice clones on higher tiers. Usage is metered in credits that vary by model, duration and resolution. Runway also runs a developer API platform and mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

Good for

Creators and studios who want text-to-video, image-to-video and video-to-video editing plus image and audio generation under one subscription, with a choice of several model families and an API for automation.

Watch out for

Everything is credit-metered, and credit cost differs a lot by model; per the pricing page, Standard and Pro credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over (only Max rolls over one month). The free plan is a one-time 125-credit allowance, not a monthly one.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Free (125 one-time credits), Standard at $12/month billed annually ($15 monthly) with 625 credits, Pro at $28/month annually ($35 monthly) with 2,250 credits, and Max at $76/month annually ($95 monthly) with 9,500 credits. Extra credits can be bought in packs of at least 1,000 and do not expire.
