About Proton Pass
Proton Pass is a password manager from Proton AG, the Swiss company behind Proton Mail and Proton VPN. It stores logins, notes and credit cards in end-to-end encrypted vaults, supports passkeys, generates passwords, warns about weak and reused passwords, and creates hide-my-email aliases to keep your real address private. Paid plans add unlimited aliases, a built-in 2FA authenticator, vault and link sharing, emergency access, custom alias domains and a command-line interface. Apps are available for browsers, mobile and desktop, and business plans add admin controls. Proton states the apps are open source and independently audited.
Good for
People who want a free password manager with unlimited devices, and those already in the Proton ecosystem who want email aliases built in.
Watch out for
The free plan includes 10 hide-my-email aliases; the authenticator, sharing and unlimited aliases need Pass Plus. Discounted prices apply to the first billing term.
