About QuickBooks
QuickBooks, from Intuit, handles small-business bookkeeping: it connects to bank accounts and apps to pull in transactions, sends invoices customers can pay online, tracks expenses and bills, calculates sales tax and produces financial reports. Higher plans add inventory, job costing, cash-flow forecasting and more users. Add-ons cover payroll, contractor payments, time tracking and QuickBooks Payments with a card reader, and it lists more than 800 integrations such as Shopify, Square and PayPal. Intuit Intelligence, its AI layer, drafts invoices, sends payment reminders with approval and flags inconsistencies. QuickBooks Online runs in the browser with iPhone, iPad and Android apps; QuickBooks Desktop and Enterprise are also offered.
Good for
US small businesses and their accountants who want bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll and payments from one vendor with wide accountant familiarity.
Watch out for
The new Free plan is for one user and does not include mobile app access or third-party integrations. Prices step up sharply by plan, and the advertised 50% discount lasts only three months.
