About Wave
Wave provides accounting, invoicing and payments for small businesses, mainly in the US and Canada. The free Starter plan includes unlimited estimates, invoices, bills and bookkeeping records, a cash-flow dashboard and invoicing from the mobile app. The Pro plan adds auto-imported and auto-categorised bank transactions, unlimited receipt capture, automated late-payment reminders and lower card processing fees. Customers can pay by credit card, bank transfer or Apple Pay. Payroll for employees and contractors is offered, and Wave Advisors provides a dedicated bookkeeper, monthly financial statements and coaching for a monthly fee.
Good for
Sole proprietors and very small businesses that want free invoicing and basic books, with paid upgrades when they need bank feeds or payroll.
Watch out for
Bank transaction import and receipt capture need the Pro plan. Online payments carry per-transaction fees (2.9% + $0.60 per card on Starter). Payroll and bookkeeping services cost extra.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Starter at $0 and Pro at $19 USD/month billed monthly (promo $9.50 for 3 months) or $190/year ($25 CAD/month or $250 CAD/year). Wave Advisors starts at $149/month (a $199 figure is also shown).
