About Adobe Lightroom
Lightroom is Adobe's photo organiser and raw editor. It keeps a searchable library in Adobe's cloud so edits sync between desktop, mobile and web, and offers presets that can be applied across batches, AI masking for subjects, skies and backgrounds, object removal, Lens Blur, Dust Removal and generative upscaling (via Topaz Gigapixel). Assisted Culling scores shots on sharpness, focus and open eyes to help pick keepers. The Lightroom plan also includes Lightroom Classic, the desktop-focused version that works with locally stored catalogues. The mobile app is free on iOS and Android, with premium features unlocked by a subscription.
Good for
Photographers who shoot large volumes and want cataloguing, batch presets and raw editing in one place, especially those who edit across phone, laptop and browser.
Watch out for
Two different apps share the name: Lightroom (cloud-synced) and Lightroom Classic (local catalogue, desktop only); check which one a workflow needs. The 7-day trial runs only on desktop and iPad, per the trial page. Cloud storage is capped by plan.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the product page lists Lightroom at US$11.99/month on an annual plan billed monthly (US$119.88/year) with 1TB storage, and the Photography plan (Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop) at US$19.99/month. Teams: US$37.99 per licence per month. The mobile app is free with optional upgrades.
