About Bruno
Bruno is an open-source API client that saves collections as plain-text files (OpenCollection YAML) in your project folder, so they can be versioned, reviewed and merged with Git alongside the code. It supports HTTP, REST, GraphQL and gRPC requests, scripting, tests, documentation, code generation and a collection runner, and also runs from the terminal, IDEs and AI agents. Bruno works locally with no cloud sync, account or login. Paid editions add built-in Git UI, data-driven runs, report generation, OpenAPI sync, secret-manager integrations and, at the top tier, SSO, SCIM and audit logs. Desktop apps are available for Mac, Windows and Linux under the MIT licence.
Good for
Developers and teams who want API collections to live in the repository and be shared through Git rather than a vendor cloud.
Watch out for
Collaboration happens through Git rather than live cloud sync, which suits developers but may be awkward for non-technical users. Advanced Git UI, secret managers and SSO are in paid tiers.
