About GitLab
GitLab is a single application for the software delivery lifecycle: source code management with merge requests, built-in CI/CD pipelines, agile planning, artifact and package management, and application security testing, secrets management and compliance controls. Security scans, policies and approvals run inside pipelines and report into merge requests. The GitLab Duo Agent Platform adds AI agents that can review code, fix failing pipelines, remediate vulnerabilities and turn issues into merge requests, paid for through usage-based GitLab Credits. GitLab is offered as a SaaS at gitlab.com, and as GitLab Dedicated, a single-tenant managed service with data residency, including a FedRAMP-compliant version for government.
Good for
Organisations that want code hosting, CI/CD and security scanning in one platform under one set of permissions, particularly in regulated sectors.
Watch out for
The Free tier is limited to 5 users per top-level group, 400 compute minutes a month and 10 GiB of storage, and AI features need purchased GitLab Credits. Included credits on paid plans are described as a time-limited promotion.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Free at $0, Premium at $29 per user/month billed annually (with $12 of GitLab Credits per user/month included), and Ultimate by quote (with $24 of credits). Extra GitLab Credits cost $1 each, and GitLab Flex allows one annual commitment across seats and credits.
