About Invoke (Community Edition)
Invoke is an Apache 2.0 licensed application for generating and editing images on your own hardware. It offers a layer-based Unified Canvas for drawing, inpainting and composing scenes, node-based workflows for reproducible pipelines, and ControlNet guidance from depth maps, edges and poses. A model manager handles checkpoints, LoRAs, textual inversions and ControlNets for FLUX, SDXL and SD 1.5. Batch generation, prompt wildcards and upscaling are built in. Installers are provided for Windows, macOS (Apple silicon) and Linux, and Docker is documented.
Good for
Artists and studios who want a polished local interface with a real layered canvas, full privacy, and control over which models and LoRAs they run.
Watch out for
You need a capable GPU and enough disk space for models. The project is now described as community-driven; there is no hosted cloud plan on the official site, and support comes through GitHub and Discord.
Pricing notes
Free and open source under Apache 2.0. The project accepts sponsorships via GitHub Sponsors; there is no paid tier on invoke.ai.
