About Luminar Neo
Luminar (the desktop app is also called Luminar Neo) is a photo editor from Skylum built around automated, AI-based tools. It includes one-slider image enhancement, sky replacement, skin and face retouching, relighting, bokeh, denoise, sharpening, upscaling, old-photo restoration, and generative tools to erase distractions, expand a scene or swap objects. It also has layers, masking, raw support for more than 1,000 cameras, HDR merge, panorama stitching and focus stacking. It runs standalone or as a plug-in for Lightroom Classic and Photoshop, and has mobile and web versions that sync edits across devices.
Good for
Hobbyist and enthusiast photographers who want quick, automated enhancements such as sky replacement and portrait retouching without learning masks and curves, and Lightroom users who want it as a plug-in.
Watch out for
The licence is perpetual, but generative features and the asset library are only included for 365 days and are subject to a fair-use policy. The site runs near-constant sale banners, so list prices are hard to pin down.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the pricing page shows sale prices for one-time purchases: Desktop Only US$89, All Platforms US$109, and Max US$129, each crossed out against much higher list prices, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
