About Mattermost

Mattermost combines channel-based messaging, playbooks for incident response and compliance workflows, audio calls with screen sharing, and Kanban-style boards for tracking work. It can run self-hosted, in a private or sovereign cloud, or fully air-gapped, and it federates with other Mattermost servers and works with Microsoft Teams, Matrix and XMPP. Admin features include SAML, LDAP/AD and SCIM, retention policies, eDiscovery export and audit logs, plus classification banners and attribute-based access control. AI agents can use an LLM provider of your choice or a self-hosted model. It offers a REST API, webhooks, slash commands and plugins, and desktop and mobile apps are available.

Security, DevOps and government teams that need chat and incident workflows on infrastructure they control, including disconnected networks.

Watch out for

The site is now aimed mainly at national-security and critical-infrastructure buyers. Paid plans are quote-only. The free option shown is 'Mattermost Entry', described as a limited-use edition of Enterprise Advanced for technical evaluation.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Professional, Enterprise and Enterprise Advanced with no public prices (contact sales or request a quote), plus the free Entry edition for evaluation.
