About Memrise
Memrise teaches languages through thousands of short clips of native speakers, using a hear it, learn it, copy it method: watch a phrase, practise remembering it, then record yourself and compare with the speaker's rhythm and pronunciation. It covers Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and many more official courses, and also hosts a large catalogue of community-made courses for less common and even constructed languages. Smart review schedules words for revision and private AI practice lets learners rehearse conversations. Progress syncs across the web app and mobile apps, and the site publishes free phrasebooks.
Good for
Getting used to how a language actually sounds, with real speaker videos for listening and pronunciation, and finding courses for niche languages.
