About Pixelmator Pro

Pixelmator Pro is an image editing and graphic design app now published by Apple. It offers non-destructive layer-based editing, more than 60 effects, colour adjustments by range or selection, Select and Mask for hair and fur, RAW editing as layers (over 750 RAW formats), video layers, retouching tools (Repair, Clone Stamp), vector shapes and a Pen tool, typography controls, templates and mockups. Machine-learning tools include Super Resolution, background removal, Deband, Auto Enhance, Auto Crop and Denoise, building on Apple Intelligence. It opens and exports PSD, SVG, PDF and Illustrator files. An iPad version with Apple Pencil support is part of Apple Creator Studio.

Good for

Mac and iPad users who want a native, Photoshop-style editor with vector and RAW support, either as a one-off purchase or bundled with Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro.

Watch out for

Apple-only: requires macOS 26 or iPadOS 26, and the iPad version needs an M1-or-later iPad, iPad (A16) or iPad mini (A17 Pro). The iPad version and the Warp tool are only in the Apple Creator Studio subscription, not the one-time Mac purchase.
