About Sketch

Sketch is a vector design app for macOS made by the Dutch company Sketch B.V., used mainly for user interface and app design. It offers an infinite canvas, stack layouts and nestable frames, a vector editor, components and shared libraries (with variants in beta), templates and frame presets, and prototyping with Smart Animate, overlays and scroll areas. Documents can be edited offline or co-edited in real time; a web app lets viewers comment and inspect files, and developers get free handoff to inspect, export assets and tokens. Prototypes can be tested in a browser or on iPhone and iPad. It can also connect to MCP clients such as Claude or Cursor.

Good for

Mac-based designers and small product teams who want a native, offline-capable UI design tool, and developers who only need free inspect and handoff access.

Watch out for

Editing requires a Mac (macOS Sequoia 15 or newer); the web and iOS apps are for viewing, commenting and previewing. Since 15 July 2026 Sketch no longer sells directly to customers in India, per the pricing page.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Standard US$12, Professional US$24 and Enterprise US$44 per editor per month billed yearly (monthly billing toggle exists), plus a Mac-only licence at US$120 per seat with one year of updates. 30-day free trial, no credit card needed.
