About Slack
Slack organises team conversation into channels, threads and direct messages, with Slack Connect for working with people at other organisations. Huddles add audio and video meetings with screen sharing, and Clips are recorded updates. Canvas (docs) and Lists (project tracking) sit alongside chat, and Workflow Builder automates routine tasks. The pricing page lists more than 2,600 apps in its directory, including Salesforce, Jira and Google Drive. AI features include conversation and file summaries, AI search, daily recaps and Slackbot as a personal agent, with more AI on higher plans. Slack is part of Salesforce and offers Salesforce CRM features inside Slack.
Good for
Companies and communities that want searchable, channel-based chat with lots of integrations, quick audio/video huddles and simple automations in one place.
Watch out for
The Free plan keeps only 90 days of message history, allows up to 10 apps and limits huddles and external messages to one-to-one. Most AI features are reserved for paid plans, and SSO, SCIM and data loss prevention start at Business+ or higher.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the pricing page lists Free ($0), Pro at $8.75 per user/month billed monthly or $7.25 billed annually, Business+ at $18 monthly or $15 annually, and Enterprise+ at $45 per user/month billed annually (contact sales). A 50%-off-for-3-months promotion was shown on Pro and Business+.
