About Storyboard That

Storyboard That is a web-based tool for building storyboards, comics, graphic novels, posters, timelines and worksheets from a library of scenes, characters and items, with no drawing needed. Paid individual plans unlock thousands of customizable images plus a photo library, up to 100 cells per storyboard, a 16x9 layout for film-style storyboarding, a book maker, audio recordings, custom image uploads and version history. Education editions keep student work private to the teacher, and a Teams plan adds user management, project folders and private commenting. Business storyboards are hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Good for

Teachers planning visual writing activities, and individuals or teams who need quick storyboards or simple comics without drawing.

Watch out for

On the free edition every storyboard is public, can be copied by anyone and may appear in Google search results; it is also limited to two storyboards per week, three cells, and watermarked downloads.

Pricing notes

As of October 2026 the site offers a first month for $1 for new customers, then plans starting at $9.99, with monthly billing, cancellation at any time and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Free teacher accounts are also available.
