About Descript

Descript is an audio and video editor built around the transcript: deleting words in the text removes them from the recording. For audio it offers multitrack podcast editing, Studio Sound for voice enhancement, filler-word and retake removal, automatic transcription and AI speech with custom voice clones. It also records remote guests through Rooms, captures screens, generates clips, captions, translations and dubs, and includes an AI co-editor called Underlord. A desktop app, a web app and an API/MCP integration are offered.

Podcasters and video creators who prefer editing in a document-like interface and want cleanup, transcription and clipping in one tool.

Watch out for

Plans are metered by media hours and AI credits per editor each month (the free plan includes 1 media hour). Watermark-free export starts on Hobbyist, and 4K export on Creator. Much of the feature set is video-focused, so audio-only users may pay for tools they do not need.
