About Gmail
Gmail is Google's email service, free for personal use with a Google Account and included in Google Workspace for business email on your own domain. Google says it automatically blocks 99.9% of spam, phishing and malware (company claim). Smart Reply and Smart Compose suggest text, nudges remind you to follow up, and Gemini can draft replies, summarise long threads and answer questions about your inbox and Drive files. Business features include mail merge to up to 1,500 recipients, email templates and up to 30 aliases per user. It connects to Meet, Calendar, Tasks and Chat so you can start calls or add to-dos from the inbox, and it runs on computers, phones, tablets and watches.
Good for
Individuals who want a free, widely supported email account, and small businesses that want domain email bundled with Google's office apps.
Watch out for
Free accounts get 15GB of storage shared across Google services. Gemini features for personal accounts need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan. A custom domain requires a paid Workspace plan.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 personal Gmail is free. The Workspace pricing page (shown in EUR for our region) lists Business Starter at EUR 6.80, Standard EUR 13.60 and Plus EUR 21.10 per user/month, with about 16% off for an annual commitment and a 14-day trial.
