About Google Meet
Google Meet runs video meetings in the browser with no install, and through apps for iOS and Android phones and tablets. Meetings can be scheduled from Google Calendar with agendas and attachments and joined from Docs, Sheets and Slides. It offers live captions, noise reduction, echo-free audio when people share a room, polls, breakout rooms, Q&A, a waiting room and moderation controls, and encrypts audio and video by default. Gemini in Meet takes notes, translates speech and surfaces key points. Paid Google One and Workspace plans add longer and larger meetings, recordings and transcripts. Partner room hardware can also join Zoom and Webex calls.
Good for
People and teams already using Google accounts or Workspace who want meetings that open in the browser, tied to Calendar and Docs.
Watch out for
Free group meetings are limited to 60 minutes and 100 participants; one-to-one and mobile calls have no time limit. Recording, transcripts and 1,000-person meetings need certain Google One, Workspace Business or Enterprise plans.
