About Mailchimp
Mailchimp is an email and SMS marketing service for creating campaigns, managing audiences and running automated customer journeys. It includes a drag-and-drop email editor and templates, sign-up and pop-up forms, audience segmentation, marketing automation flows, A/B and (on Premium) multivariate testing, reporting on audience growth and conversions, and generative AI tools for drafting content. It integrates with stores and apps such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Canva, Stripe and Salesforce, and offers a separate transactional email product and public APIs. Mailchimp is part of Intuit, and newer AI features are branded Intuit Intelligence.
Good for
Small businesses that want a familiar all-in-one email tool with templates, forms, basic automations and a large integration catalogue, and that may grow into SMS and advanced segmentation.
Watch out for
The free plan is limited to 250 contacts and sending pauses if contact or send limits are exceeded. Plans are priced by contact count, so costs rise with list size, and overages apply on paid plans. Automation steps are capped on lower tiers.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 the US pricing page shows a Free plan (up to 250 contacts) and paid Essentials, Standard and Premium plans, with an introductory offer of 50% off for 12 months: Essentials from $13/month, Standard from $20/month and Premium from $350/month at the lowest contact tier during the offer. The regular post-offer price was not rendered in the page text. Premium has a one-month free trial.
