About PeaZip
PeaZip is an open-source file archiver and archive manager for Windows, macOS, Linux and BSD, built on technologies from 7-Zip/p7zip, Zstandard, Brotli, FreeArc, PAQ and its own PEA format. It handles 200+ archive formats, can convert between them, and supports strong encryption with optional two-factor authentication (password plus keyfile). Tasks set up in the GUI can be exported as command-line scripts. File management tools include checksum and hash verification, duplicate finding, search inside archives, bookmarks and tabbed browsing. It also comes as a portable app that runs without installation. PeaZip is released under the LGPLv3 and is free for private and professional use.
Good for
Users who want the same archiver on Windows, macOS and Linux, need unusual formats such as ZPAQ or Zstandard, or want to turn GUI tasks into scripts.
Watch out for
Some platforms (Linux ARM/aarch64) are listed as experimental. The many options can feel busy compared with simpler unarchivers.
Pricing notes
As of October 2026 PeaZip is free for any use under the LGPLv3; the project accepts donations.
